The Carroll County Soup Kitchen prepared and delivered over 46,000 sack lunches in 2014, and served over 14,000 hot meals out of the local kitchen! They cannot serve the community needs without the help of local civic clubs and generous contributors.
Carrollton DawnBreakers helped the local Soup Kitchen reach their goals in 3 ways:
on September 23rd, Dawnbreakers turned into “pottery-makers and painters”! We held an event on the large porch of 302 South Street where we created (from clay) bowls and painted others that had already been prepared by local potters. All of our bowls were auctioned at the Annual Empty Bowls event. The bowls made and painted that day brought in over $900 to benefit the soup kitchen!
On Wednesday, the week of Thanksgiving, 7 DawnBreakers handed out prepared meals and extra groceries to over 400 families in our community. Cars lined up for miles in front of the Soup Kitchen and pulled through to be loaded up with an awesome Thanksgiving meal for their family.
On February 23rd, Five DawnBreakers volunteered at the local Empty Bowls event that annually generates over $20,000 for the Soup Kitchen. Other DawnBreakers ATTENDED the event and purchased clay bowls filled with Homemade soup made by locals to contribute to the success of the event.
To assist with financial needs, DawnBreakers donated $1,000 to the Soup Kitchen to replenish their needs for foods and supplies.
DawnBreakers prepared and distributed fliers to advertise events benefiting the Carroll County Soup Kitchen
Rotarians paint bowls previously made and right out of the kiln.
With a $10 donation, the attendee samples delicious soups donated by area chefs and restaurants...and gets a handmade bowl to take home!
