This is our Top Pick for an International Project. Our club has been involved in this program for 4 years located in Escuela Pedro Nufio in the village of El Rincon in southwest Honduras. The school serves 146 students from grades K through 9 including middle schoolers who walk three hours each way to attend class in the only middle school in the area. The lifeblood of this school is the lunch program provided by L4L, and the prior sponsor pulled out leaving L4L to support the school from its general funds which is an unsustainable situation.
This year, we had 6 volunteers make the journey to Honduras which included 4 members of our club, PP and Foundation Chair Joe Murphey, PP Mary K Wiedner, Treasurer Joel Terry & his wife Darlene, and member Howard Baron & his wife Barbara. Our group provided funding in the amount of $3750 which helped to feed all of the students lunch. We also, presented each student with gifts that were packed inside of a backpack which we also provided.
